Selected Professional Experience: Gwenyth holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan and has worked in various roles the human services and mental health field since 2010. Throughout her career, she has worked with many diverse populations including individuals experiencing homelessness and housing crises, survivors of intimate partner abuse and sexualized violence, older adults, persons living with psychiatric and physical disabilities, and many clients coping with living below the poverty line.
Gwenyth is driven by a commitment to social justice and equity, continually learning about the ways systemic structures influence individual mental health, particularly within oppressed communities. Additionally, as a professional musician herself, Gwenyth possesses a heightened sensitivity to the distinctive challenges encountered by individuals within the creative industry.
Professional Interests: Gwenyth specializes in working with adults and older adults wrestling with depression, anxiety, anger, stress, and trauma. Her clinical interests include adjustment disorders, cultural issues, disability, self-esteem, identity, career challenges, and relationship issues.
Approach to Therapy: Gwenyth’s therapeutic approach centers on the integration of emotionally focused and narrative therapy interventions. Her emphasis lies in providing non-judgmental empathy, validation, and mindfulness techniques to alleviate distress and foster heightened self-compassion. Operating within an intersectional framework, Gwenyth acknowledges that our diverse identities significantly influence our individual experiences of the world.
